Not all SUVs are big family haulers. Drivers who choose between the 2024 BMW X6 or Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe are shopping in a unique category—the sports utility coupe. These vehicles have the spacious interiors North Canton and Massillon drivers expect to find in an SUV, but they offer the power and driving experience of a coupe. In this case, it’s a comparison between two of the most renowned coupe-makers in the industry. What’s the difference between the 2024 BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe? Take a look at our comparison and see which SAC is right for you.
For the 2024 model year, there isn’t a true Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe. The only coupes among the GLE lineup are part of Mercedes-AMG®, the high-performance wing of the company that’s comparable to the BMW M. Because of this, the Mercedes-AMG® GLE 53 Coupe, the baseline model, is significantly more expensive than the 2024 BMW X6 baseline to the tune of over $12,000. In addition, the BMW X6 will have a lower cost of ownership, thanks to its considerably better fuel economy.
For the higher price tag, Green drivers should expect better performance from the Mercedes-AMG® GLE 53 Coupe. However, the BMW X6 provides nearly the same bang for your buck. Both operate with 3.0L intercooled turbo/electric I-6 engines, and the Mercedes-AMG® does have higher horsepower—429 hp to the BMW X6’s 375 hp. However, their zero-to-60 MPH times are remarkably similar with the BMW just .3 seconds behind the Mercedes-AMG®. Both vehicles are equipped with standard AWD. Their towing capacities are similar, with the Mercedes-AMG® being capable of an additional 500 pounds. That’s because it’s slightly bigger than the BMW, with the ability to add a third row of seating, which seems to push the envelope on the definition of a “coupe.”
