BMW Warranty Coverage Explained

With coverage for four years or 50,000 miles (whichever comes first), your new BMW warranty coverage protects your investment against parts and workmanship-related defects and covers many of the components of your BMW. BMW New Vehicle Warranty Coverage

Should your new BMW have any workmanship or part problems in the first four years or 50,000 miles, you’ll be covered by these complimentary warranty plans: 

• Basic New Vehicle Limited Warranty – 4 years / 50,000 miles
• Rust Perforation Warranty – 12 years / Unlimited miles
• Federal Emission Warranty – 2 years / 24,000 miles

Along with these complimentary warranties, you’ll also receive BMW Ultimate Care with the purchase of a new BMW. This plan provides up to three years or 36,000 miles of complimentary scheduled maintenance. 

What’s Covered by the BMW Warranty?

The majority of your BMW is covered by the warranty included when you purchase your car or SUV. Any problem that’s covered by the warranty will be repaired at no cost to you at a BMW service center, and our certified technicians will only use genuine BMW parts. 

What’s not covered by your warranty? Regular wear and tear to parts like brakes and filters are not covered. Neither is sun damage. If engine repairs are necessary due to improper shifting, the warranty will not cover the repairs. You can get the specifics from your warranty or by contacting our service center.

BMW Certified Pre-Owned Warranty Coverage

One reason why Green drivers love certified pre-owned BMW models is because they include the BMW certified pre-owned warranty, also called the BMW CPO warranty. The BMW CPO warranty provides whatever remains of the 4-year/50,000-mile new warranty, plus one additional year of coverage with no mileage limit. Your BMW CPO warranty also includes roadside assistance. 

BMW Extended Warranty 

If you’d like to stay covered after your warranty expires you can choose from three BMW extended warranty options: 

• Platinum Protection – Available on new, used, and CPO models. Offers comprehensive coverage for core components. Coverage is limited with your interior and exterior.
• Gold Protection – Available on new and used models. Offers comprehensive coverage for core components. Coverage is limited with your electrical systems, interior, and exterior.
• Powertrain Plus – Available on new and used models. Offers comprehensive coverage for your transfer case and your induction system, and limited coverage for a variety of systems.
